Profile: Lewi Hirvelä
I’ve spent over 20 years working across motion, brand, broadcast and digital design, for ad agencies, public broadcasters, global brands and everything in between. The through line has always been the same: make something that actually works, and make it well.
Most of what I know I taught myself, driven by curiosity and a habit of getting interested in things before they become mainstream. Formal study at the University of Tasmania helped me fill in the gaps and gave language to instincts I’d already been acting on for years.
I’ve lived and worked across Australia, Hong Kong and Europe, which has shaped how I think about audiences, collaboration and context. I’m comfortable working across cultures and time zones, and I’ve delivered some of my best work entirely remotely.
Right now I’m genuinely excited about where AI and generative tools are heading, not as a shortcut, but as a new creative medium with its own language that’s still being worked out. I want to be part of working it out.
